The word “horos” evolved from Greek and Latin to ultimately refer to a “map.” Hence, where we derive the term “horoscope”, an astrological reading of a person’s natal chart: the map of the planetary, luminary, and celestial body’s locations within our solar system at the exact moment of birth.
We look to the God, Zeus for our guidepost on how this chart is read and situated from our viewpoint on Earth. Because Zeus – King of the Gods and Great Father of the Heavens – is essentially looking down upon us from above our solar system, his viewpoint situates clockwise. So, we look up at it counterclockwise. But what we see is not just a rotating swirl of planets and zodiac. It is thousands of years of observing light, time, and place, ever shifting.
Astrology is a view into the evolution and psychology of a human soul.
How can the movements of life be mirrored among the stars?
Much can be discovered when one casts the horos of their life, by date, time, and location of their birth. Sometimes we can elect to know when is the right timing for beginnings, endings, new projects, when to petition the luminaries, or planets for support or desired outcome. When we live our lives in rhythm with the seasons, elements, planets, and the luminaries, we begin to feel that there is something greater out there, mirroring our lives in cycles. These cycles begin to mark a guidepost for some of us throughout our year along with what we practice and celebrate during these times of change or initiation.
And what we discover is that we are never alone. We are always aware of the natural cycles of time, beginning, ending, crescendo, and decrescendo in our sky. We seek to discover more out of curiosity.
What infinite wisdom do we then discover inside our human soul?
